Rev. Kenneth R. Hodges, Pastor
As Pastor of FBC, Winnie, I want to welcome you to our church. A common purpose unites us at First Baptist. Called to be His people, we live, work, and worship in His will. We would love to have you be a part of what God is doing in our church. Because God loves us so much, we want to share His love with others.
Calvin L.Sanders, Minister of Youth, Multimedia
Here at First Baptist Church our youth are a vital part of our congregation, not only as future leaders, but as leaders right now. As adults it's easy to say "They are the future of the church", but I believe they are so important now because the church needs them right now.
Our goal is to mentor, teach, disciple, and love students so much that they will understand better how much Jesus loves us all. In a society where self is the god of today, we want God to lead us down a path that will teach us and show the world that others are important to God also. To be able to see the world with spiritual eyes and not just physical eyes, to help reach a sick and dying world in Jesus' name.
We offer weekly fellowships for youth in the 7th - 12th grades, along with yearly conferences and youth camps and rallies. We want you to join us in sharing God's love and message to our community.
Bernie Johnson, Minister of Music, Education
Music is the audible heartbeat of all nations. It is also, the one and only universal language that can connect us corporately to God. And it is the focal activity that will surround the Throne of Jesus for all eternity. We place a high priority on the making of and the presentation of music within our congregation. It is our express purpose to make your musical encounter with God both vibrant and intimate.
The Music Ministry here at FBC is mainly comprised of four main groups:
• Voices of Praise Choir – This is the Adult Choir. Anyone ages 18 through 118 can participate. VOP meets each Wednesday evening from 7:30 – 8:30 in the choir room directly behind the sanctuary.
• GOD’s MIC (Music in Chaos) – This is the Youth Choir. All youth from the 7th grade through the 12th grade may join.
• MIC MAX – This is Youth Ensemble that is comprised of 6 youth who are selected through audition.
• Hand Bells – This is our music aerobic class. Anyone can be a member of handbells.
We also have two focal presentations each year. There are at times and seasons other presentations but only two in which we invest ourselves.
• Easter Weekend Musical – A musical that we learn and share with the congregation and community on the Saturday evening prior to Easter, and on Easter Sunday morning as well.
• Christmas Dessert Theater – This is a collection of Music, Drama, Video, Sing-a-Longs, Humor, Scripture Reading, Praise, and Candle Lighting all wrapped up in one two-hour event. It is the one thing that we all can’t wait to share with the people of Winnie.
To Believe – To Belong – To Become
There is no greater joy than to see someone embrace the life-changing values of Christ. It is our mission here to make that opportunity come to be for each of you. We have defined this Mission in Three Aims.
The first aim is To Believe. When we say this we are hoping that people everywhere in the Winnie area and beyond will believe in Jesus as the Savior of their lives and will let Him be Lord of their living.
The second aim is To Belong. We have an anticipated joy of these people belonging to our family of believers here at First Baptist Winnie. People joining the family of God is the shared relationship we hope to provide to each of you.
Yet, there is the third aim, it is To Become. Everyday we make an attempt to model the character of Jesus in all that we do. Succeed or fail, we keep trying. We want to become like Him in every aspect. That is our desire for each of you – to become like Jesus. That’s when life has it’s purposes fulfilled.
We take these aims very serious. Why? Because You are Someone, and You are Worth It. Come join us here at FBC. It is our greatest honor to have you here.
